CAUTION: Extreme Kitchen Cabinet Makeover!!

We are visiting family for a couple of weeks in Utah. When I come to town I am always painting something.  My sweet lil sister Jamie had this CrAzY (REPEAT CRAZEEE) idea to paint her kitchen cabinets in less then 24 hours.  I think we need to be submitted into the Guinness Book Of World Records for repainting cabinets.  I told her she was nuts (we are very similar) to think we could do it....but we did...and it looks great!  If you remember not too long ago I painted, stripped and repainted my kitchen cabinets.  This process took me a month (or longer)...and I swore I would never do it again.  But here I am...this is true sisterhood in action.

I thought this little island makeover was enough....but it wasn't.

AFTER

I love my sisters home decor taste.  She can make anything look beautiful.

  20. I love your cabinets. Lovely. I am contemplating doing this. A few questions that I hope you don't mind answering: How long did it take? Did you paint the inside? Did you use a brush, roller or machine? Thanks for showing us your beautiful transformation.

    ReplyDelete
  21. It was less then 24 hours...and we painted the inside of the door only. We let them dry enough to hang and then hung them and painted the outside. We used a really nice angled 2 inch brush to cut in the edges and used a (cabinet) spudge roller to blend. The prep work was minimal because we used primer/paint combo and high end brushes/rollers.

  25. Hey Camie fun to see your blog! You and Jamie are so talented! I wish I had a pinch of that talent--especially now that we are building a new home and all the designing, color selections, decor are 100% ours to make. It's overwhelming to say the least. The kitchen turned out awesome! My husband loves the color of Jamie's floor-have any idea what it actually is and where they got it? We are in the market for hardwood flooring.

  26. What wonderful ideas. We are remodeling our kitchen too, but it has been torn apart for weeks now. However, we are tiling the entire kitchen. Thank goodness it is small, but it is going to be beautiful. Thank goodness my hubby is good at tiling.
Thank you so much for letting me visit.

  27. Love to see the oak to white transformation! I am in the middle of mine right now, but since I'm using oil based paint, its taking me a tad longer than 24 hours ;)

Question - did you paint/spray paint your table black? Did it used to be oak too? We have one identical to it in oak, and I'm dying to change it..

  28. Hi Jill :) I thought I commented back but it doesn't show it, sorry. Anyway, thanks for the sweet comment and our floor isn't hard wood, it's pergo - I think that's what you call it - but I love it because it doesn't scratch, cleans up nice, and hides dirt very well. I don't know the color because we're the second owner of our home. Sorry, I'm not much help.

That's so exciting that you're building a house, congrats and good to hear from you! <3

Judy, Thanks and I actually bought my table online and the previous owners painted it black along with the chairs. :)
